  • Abstract
Dynamically accurate detection of motor displacement is the basis of levitation control for magnetic suspension motors. An eddy-current sensor is widely used for air-gap detection due to its feature of small size, high sensitivity, anti-noise and preferable dynamic performance. This paper introduces the operation principle, static and dynamic performances, and measuring circuit of the eddy-current sensor. The experimental result and a practical application example of an eddy-current sensor in a magnetic suspension motor is reported in the paper
