Abstract :
In this paper, fractional order controller is designed to control the tank level of level process. Based on experimental model of the process, the integer and fractional order controller tuning rules have been compared in order to minimize the integral absolute error (IAE) and integral time absolute error (ITAE) with a constraint on the maximum sensitivity. To test the process model stability, the robustness is considered under parameter variation. The results are tested on MATLAB Simulink and it is found that fractional order controller gives better performance than integer order controller. The experimental results are reported using fractional order internal model controller rules, designed for experimental model. The obtained results are analyzed on the bases of performance parameter and performance criteria.
