Abstract
This paper presents a precise modelling of Short term Hydrothermal scheduling (HTS) problem in Mixed integer non-linear programming (MINLP) environment. The HTS problem is highly non-linear, non-convex problem with a vast size of multi-dimensional search space. In order to solve HTS in MINLP environment the branch and bound method is adopted to handle various operational and reliable limitations regarding the problem. The performance of the proposed algorithm is experimented on two short term multi reservoir cascaded hydrothermal systems. First test case is moderately large while the second test case is a considerably large one. Experimental results demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed algorithm as compared to other recently reported ones in terms of convergence and better quality of solutions.
