Abstract
In this paper the design of a turbogenerator with high voltage stator winding is presented. In distinction from conventional techniques the stator winding is not built with isolated bars. For this concept, common high voltage cables are used. Therefore it is possible to raise the stator voltage from 110 kV to 400 kV. The advantage of this concept is that the transformer is no longer necessary. The conclusion of this paper is that it is possible to design a turbogenerator with high voltage stator windings, but the new machine is much larger than a common one. Furthermore the efficiency is lower (0.6% resp. 2.3%) than for a conventional machine because of skin effect losses in the cables
