Abstract :
The simulation modeling is used to observe the effects of microwave heating on tomato plant with its harmful insect pest as `Helicoverpa Armigera´. The proposed applicator is a capacitor used for microwave heating is simulated at 915 MHz, 2.45 GHz and 5.81 GHz (ISM band) with Xc = 50 Ohm. The equations used to determine the electric field intensity, SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) and change in temperature of the tomato plant and insect pests are discussed. The parallel plate applicator is fabricated and tested. The proposed technique can be used to suppress insect pests from plants.
