Abstract
In this paper, two different shape EBG structures are investigated. Modifications are done by cutting slots to get extra inductance and capacitance. This results in lower cut off frequency and larger bandwidth. A standard Mushroom type EBG is used and the modification is a Cross Hair type structure. These structures are placed over a CPW fed Double T-Shaped antenna and peak SAR value for each is compared using a cuboid in place of a human head model. Among the two discussed structures, Cross Hair type structure is found to be more efficient in reducing the SAR value.
