  • Abstract
This paper is identified an optimum hydrothermal generation schedule using artificial bee colony algorithm (ABC) in order to minimize energy cost and pollutant emission release caused by fossil fuel based thermal power station in coordination with hydroelectric power plant for cleanliness environment. With the conflict objectives this scheduling problem is formulated as bi-objective optimization problem subjected to various operational and physical constraints, then simultaneously solved with make use of modified price penalty factor approach. Three tests systems are considered in this study one is two fixed head hydro and four thermal systems, second is a benchmark system and third is cascaded multichain system. The simulated results obtained from the proposed approach have been compared statistically with previously obtained results. The comparison confirms effectiveness of the proposed ABC algorithm.
