Abstract :
On 12th October´2014 VSCS `HUDHUD´ struck the east coast of India near Vishakhapatnam (Vizag) with devastating effect. Ironically it struck exactly an year after `PHAILIN´. With accurate forecast by Indian Metrological Department and pre-preparedness from Load Despatchers from Phailin experience, severe loss to electrical system was prevented and power supply system outage was minimised. This paper presents impact of VSCS Hudhud on power system operations across all avenues, viz., generation, transmission, distribution and also power system restoration.
