  • Abstract
With the integration of large scale renewable power generations (e.g. Wind power generations) and new types of electric loads (e.g. Electrical vehicles), more and more stochastic factors are being introduced into power systems. Traditionally, power system rotor angle stability issues are treated under deterministic domain which means all the parameters involved are unchanged during the analysis. Although deterministic approaches have been used widely for decades, they might not be able to give a real appraisal on power system rotor angle stability due to the fact that the power system is stochastic in nature. In this paper, a comprehensive review on the topic of probabilistic power system rotor angle stability analysis which includes probabilistic small signal stability analysis (PSSSA) and probabilistic transient stability analysis (PTSA) is presented. The paper first reviews three main methodologies which are currently being used in PSSSA and a comparison among them is made. The development and main approaches of PTSA are given afterwards.
