Abstract :
The virtual machine (VM) consolidation is one of the important technologies to improve resource utilization in cloud data center. In this paper, a novel resource consolidation mechanism, called Two-Dimension Consolidation Mechanism (TDCM) is proposed for the object of optimizing resource utilization in the both of two dimensions. In the paper, the mechanism calculates the Overall Linear Correlation Coefficient (OLCC) value of two dimensions resource utilization sampling as the judgement threshold. And it designs two sub consolidation algorithms for the two different threshold situations, respectively. The numerical simulation confirms the mechanisms can provide the improved gain by 15% of working number of standard VM and 16% of working physical servers to the current used empirical model method based on the normal distribution estimation.
