Abstract
Undersea systems are the defining example of dense, long-haul WDM transmission. Exploding demand for international capacity drives innovation in both technology and commercial strategies for new systems. This makes it essential to have fast and accurate computer modeling tools and laboratory systems prototypes to aid the system design. In this paper we discuss the use of simulations in conjunction with loop experiments for system design verification.
