  • Abstract
    The power transfer capability of transmission line can be maximized by introducing shunt connected FACTS devices such as STATCOM and SVC in the mid-point of transmission line. Introduction of FACTS devices effect the estimated impedance of transmission line at the relaying point. As a first case study, errors due to impedance measurement in shunt FACTS devices in transmission line are analyzed. PSCAD is employed to perform the real time simulations. The results obtained from different fault conditions, different system conditions and different fault location are analyzed and compared with analytical study.
