  • Abstract
This paper presents image processing technique which consist of filtering and image segmentation using Otsu´s Method. This technique is used on the captured image in Dielectrophoresis (DEP) experiment to detect cancer cells (K562). The image processing technique results were measured by referring to mean and standard deviation using histogram. The mean value in the histogram indicates the average number of white and black pixels in that image. The value of standard deviation indicates the processed image able to show overall black and white intensity more precisely. This enables more cells captured and it exhibits more evenly distributed black pixels (cell). The ability of this method has the potential to give a more consistency and reliability in plotting the DEP spectrum from which the electrophysiological parameters were extracted. This would produce a quality image to plot the DEP spectrum and will expedite the progress in identifying the differences between normal and cancerous cells.
