Abstract
Ventilator is the one of the most important means to save critical patients, which is widely used in ICU as well as other respiratory therapy fields. At present, medical device manufacturers as well as metrology institutes in China usually use ventilator tester as the commonly accepted functional calibration equipment for ventilator. Thus, there is an increasing concern on the accuracy of ventilator tester. Although some devices group had already designed to test parameters such as gas flow rate and static pressure, however, the most significant dynamic parameters, like tidal volume, airway peak pressure, positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) and oxygen concentration can not be calibrated in a reasonable mode. In this study, a newly integrated Ventilator Tester Calibration Equipment, involving calibration modules for both static and dynamic parameters as stated above, is developed to make a traceable system for the calibration or verification of ventilator testers. In addition, the basic breathing process of normal human body is imitated and a functional matched software is also exploited in this calibration equipment.
