Abstract :
The paper presents an algorithm for the degree reduction of the classic disk rational Bézier curve in L2 norm. We start by transforming degree reduction of the error radius curve and the weight curve into solving a constrained quadratic programming problem. Then applying weighted least squares, we provide the degree reduced polynomial approximation of the center curve. Finally, we provide some examples to show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
