Abstract :
Cloud computing integrates the computation, storage, network etc., making it behaves as a virtualized computing resource pool, and provides services to customers with the dynamic on-demand and measurable way. In order to manage these resources, some cloud computing platform management systems composed of different function modules have been developed, and the coupling between these modules is very low. Therefore, the deployments of these cloud computing management systems are very flexible. However, the deployment architecture affects the performance of the cloud computing platform. This paper employs a high level formalization method, Performance Evaluation Process Algebra (PEPA), to model, analyze, and evaluate the Openstack cloud computing platform deployed by a common deployment architecture with the angle of resources. The findings reveal the key factors affecting the cloud computing platform performance and the potential solutions of deployment architecture to improve performance.
