Abstract :
This paper presents the effect of storage devices on frequency control in two area thermal-thermal deregulated power system. Capacitor Energy Storage (CES) unit is considered in both areas and Thyristor Controlled Phase Shifter (TCPS) unit is placed in series with the tie line. The effect of coordinated action of CES and TCPS units has been demonstrated on the frequency, tie line power and generated power of different units. The performance of the system has been examined in different contract scenarios in a deregulated electricity environment. Analysis reveals that CES unit with TCPS unit give better dynamic response by suppressing the frequency and tie line power deviations.
