Abstract :
High temperature superconducting (HTS) DC cable shows wide application prospect in the field of power transmissions. Compared with the conventional cables, a HTS cable shows no Joule heating during operation. Moreover, a DC superconducting power transmission system is more efficient contrast to an AC one, because it is free from AC loss. In near future, high current-carrying capacity and long distance HTS DC cable will play an important role in the power transmission systems. In this paper, the systems and development state of HTS DC cables worldwide are introduced, and the electromagnetic characteristic of different structures is analyzed.
