Abstract :
Short-shunt connection of capacitors is proposed to improve the dynamic stability of the self-excited induction generator (SEIG). The transient model is deduced according to the equivalent circuits of the generator under αβ0 stationary reference frames. The state equations of the circuits are linearized locally and then solved by Runge-Kutta method. The improved eigenvalue method is utilized to study transient process of the induction generator under various loading conditions. The analyzed results show that the short-shunt compensation capacitor can efficiently enhance the loading capacity of induction generators. The agreements between calculated results and experimental results verify the developed method.
