Abstract :
This paper proposes a new risk assessment method for power systems integrated with wind farm and superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) device using sequential Monte-Carlo simulation. The SMES model is established considering the energy charging and discharging constraints and the capacity constraints. The operating strategies of the SMES are also proposed to determine the energy charging and discharging behaviors. The proposed method is applied to the IEEE-RTS, and the sensitivity analysis is performed to investigate the impact of SMES capacity and maximum charging/discharging power on the risk of power systems.
