Abstract :
Application of DC resistive superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs) in HVDC systems can strongly reduce the short-circuit currents. The objective of this paper is to obtain current limiting ratio and current distribution ratio of a DC resistive SFCL. Results of experiments show that the current limiting ratio of superconductor is nearly flat while the perspective current amplitudes increase. Current limiting ratio increases with the decrease of the fault current rising rates. Current distribution ratio is not sensitive to fault current rising rates with a variation less than 5%. Current distribution ratio decreases with the increase of the fault current amplitudes.
