Abstract
A 108 mm diameter, 1.2 m long, five sections linear induction coil launcher system has been designed and tested. The experimental results showed an about 1 kg projectile from the reset to the muzzle velocity of 303 m/s. The launchers efficiency at converting the capacitor banks 232 kJ of stored energy into kinetic energy of the projectile was approximately 20%. The effect of altering initial firing time between the sections was experimented. As can be seen from the lumped parameter circuit method, the numerical model of the capacitor driven linear induction launcher was built to predict the performance of the five sections launcher system. The results of the test were compared with the simulation.
