Abstract
Power quality is one of the major concerns in the present era. With power quality problems utility distribution networks, industrial loads, sensitive loads etc. are suffered. One of the major problems dealt here is the power sag. This paper presents the simulation of an "Asymmetrical seven level Cascaded H-bridge (CHB) multilevel inverter" test system using MATLAB. The work focus on showing efficiency of the above topology over the existing symmetrical three level and five level systems by comparing THD in their outputs. Here PI controller and level shifted carrier pulse width modulation (LSCPWM) are used for the control purpose. The role of asymmetrical seven level CHB inverter based device to compensate load voltage is investigated during fault condition in a 11 kV distribution network with nonlinear load.
