Abstract :
This paper discusses the risk management issues for distributed generation in two different electricity markets. The first of these is the NETA market in England and Wales, which has introduced significant new risks for distributed generation. This is contrasted with the situation in the Midwest where distributed generation has been successfully used by utilities to reduce exposure to electricity price spikes in the short-term markets.
