Abstract :
A Pierce electron gun for travelling wave tube has been proposed. Based on the electrostatic Particle-In-Cell (PIC) method, the mirror structure parameters of the Pierce electron gun were simulated and optimized through the FORTRAN program developed by us. After that, the electron beam current and perveance of the designed electron gun can be reached to 373 mA and 0.28 μA/V3/2, respectively, when the electric potential of the cathode and the focusing electrode is zero, and that of the anode is 12 kV.
