  • Abstract
Exact simulations of solar cells require an efficient and accurate method able to model the device studied. For the case of the model single-diode/two resistors, five parameters must be identified the photo-generated current Iph, the reverse saturation current I0, the shunt resistance Rp, the series resistance Rs and the curve fitting parameter a (the ideality factor). This paper outlines a simple and accurate method for modeling of photovoltaic panels. The process just uses the normal data provided by the manufacturer to calculating the parameters of single-diode/two resistors model. An equation expressed as a function of Rs is solved numerically, while the other parameters depend exclusively on the series resistance are determined analytically. The accuracy of the resulting model is confirmed experimentally for two modules from different manufacturers and distinct technologies.
