Abstract :
In this paper a mathematical model has been developed of a unit for the desalination sea water based on humidification-dehumidification process with solar energy input. Mass and energy balances as well as thermodynamic analysis of the cooling tower and the condenser that are the main constituents of the unit are used in this mathematical model. A set of non linear equations is obtained then solved to obtain the key parameters needed in the design of the unit. The results obtained from the theoretical model are in very good agreement with those obtained experimentally.
