Abstract
The objective of this study is to analyze the energy performance of three passive systems integrated into a green house located in the green city of Benguerir (Morocco), that is characterized by continental climate. The studied systems are: hemp thermal insulation, double ventilated slab and thermal inertia. In order to study the thermal behaviour of the house, the number of discomfort hours (NDH) beyond which the operative temperature is outside the thermal comfort zone, set to "18°C-26°C". The NDH was calculated for two house configurations that are REAL HOUSE and STANDARD. The latter, referring to the house with no passive systems and consisting of commonly used construction materials in the region. The simulations are performed using the TRNSYS software. The results show that the considered passive systems have a remarkable effect on the indoor temperatures. Indeed, the house manifests air temperature differences of 4 to 5°C higher in January, and 8 to 9°C lower in July compared to the STANDARD configuration. The NDH of the latter exceeds the real house one by more than 1395 hours.
