Abstract :
This paper considers the field of automated monitoring and diagnostics equipment to deal with an electric power system in the context of smart grids. The objective of this study is to examine the impact of signal processing techniques on the electrical signals provided from electric power grid. We presented a recursive Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) algorithm for the instantaneous estimation of frequency. Several simulation test results are presented to highlight the usefulness of the recursive algorithm in the estimation of nominal electric power grid frequency.
