Abstract
In order to use Moroccan beet pulp and sugarcane bagasse for the production of bioethanol, we conducted in present work a comparative analysis of different methods published in the literature and those currently employed in the industry for the production of bioethanol. Based on technical and economic criteria the chemical process with dilute sulfuric acid was chosen for the first and the second step of the process which are the pretreatment and hydrolysis. For the third step, we adopted the fermentation in co-culture using a respiratory mutant of S. cerevisiae and P. stipitis. A conventional distillation process is selected for recovering hydrated ethanol and this distillation will be integrated with a pervaporation process to recover anhydrous ethanol.
