Abstract
The squinted SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar, SAR) exhibits the feature of non-uniform resolution in different directions. The resolution analysis based on distinguishable ellipse is proposed, the expression of which on the slant and ground plane is derived respectively by GAF (generalized ambiguity function, GAF). The parameters sensitivity is analyzed and the joint optimization criterion of SAR geometry for maximizing the resolving performance is presented. This method conquers the conventional restrictions by uniform un-coupling resolutions in each direction. A series of simulation results demonstrate that this method is adaptive to the conditions of different geometries and system parameters. The effectiveness of joint optimization design is verified, which can provide a theoretical basis for the design of system parameters and geometry configuration in squinted SARs.
