Abstract :
In this paper a gyrotron is proposed, which operates at the third harmonic of the TE2,6,1 mode. It is found that it may have two advantages: (1) It operates at a relatively lower magnetic field; (2) The mode competition is suppressed and single mode operation can be expected.
