Abstract :
Precision of interference polarization estimation is one of the main factors influencing radar polarization antijamming capability, but radar spatial polarization characteristic (SPC) have ill-conditioned problems in a certain extent, what will result in an unstable problem of least squares solution to polarization estimation of incoming wave. An improved method called least squares method with a quadratic constraint for estimating polarization of incoming wave is presented, according to the illconditioned problems when estimating the polarization state based on SPC. Firstly, factors influencing stability of polarization estimation of incoming wave are analyzed, and computer simulation results are given in the illconditioned case for particular antenna forms. Secondly, theoretical analysis is made on the principle of the improved method and algorithm steps are given. Computer simulation results indicate that the method can improve the variance of polarization estimation significantly, so as to improve the accuracy of polarization estimation, which is meaningful for improving radar polarization antijamming capability.
