Abstract :
Interferometer radar plays an important role in the electronic reconnaissance, as it works silently without electromagnetic radiation and covers larger regions. In order to avoid phase ambiguity, and to achieve the azimuth and elevation angles of the radiation source, 2D variable baseline with multi-channel interferometer radar has been extensively adopted. However, it presents higher requirements for radar signal processor. Design of the pulse descriptor word (PWD) generator for interferometer radar is presented in this paper. The generator extracts time, frequency and phase information from electromagnetic radiation received by several antennas, which is vital to the further process such as target sorting and target identification. The algorithms, including multi-channel demodulation, coordinate rotation digital computer (CORDIC) and cross-correlation operation are implemented base on FPGA. The feasibility to achieve high performance using the designed generator has been demonstrated experimentally, which gives a feasible schema for interferometer radar.
