Abstract :
In this paper, we present a compact design of a dual-polarized aperture-coupled patch antenna suitable for application in the GSM1800 cellular system (1710 to 1880 MHz). The proposed antenna has a square radiating patch of dimensions 50 × 50 mm2, which is only about 0.69 times that of the conventional design using a simple square patch. With the antenna size reduction achieved, good dual-polarized performances have also been obtained for the proposed antenna. Port decoupling better than -37.3 dB and good radiation characteristics for frequencies across the operating bandwidth have been obtained. Cross polarization lower than -20 dB and a peak antenna gain of about 7 dBi have also been observed
