Abstract
A novel technique utilizing harmonic modulation and positive feedback is proposed for microwave frequency division. A prototype divide-by-six prescaler is designed and fabricated in an "ana-digi" GaAs MMIC. Remarkably low dc power operation (only 1.2 V × 4.5 mA) is achieved at frequencies above 10 GHz. As an additional function, frequency range control is also successfully demonstrated by imposing an optional dc voltage
