Abstract :
Speckle suppressing is an important research subject in ultrasonic imaging systems. Here, the authors combine the adaptive weighted median filtering and the multiscale soft thresholding method together to effectively reduce the speckle noise while preserving the resolvable details. The problems are solved in this method which are the detail preservations in adaptive filtering and the suitable thresholds selecting in soft thresholding method while the signal-to-noise ratio is unknown. Comparisons of this novel method with single adaptive weighted mean filtering or the multiscale soft thresholding method are also presented in the paper.
