Abstract :
Multifunctional Grid Connected Inverters (MFGCIs) are playing a crucial role in improving the power quality in Micro grids. This paper focuses on the transient and steady state performance of a current controlled Multifunctional grid connected inverter to improve the grid current quality when connected to nonlinear loads. The multifunctional grid connected inverter incorporates active filter functionality and can compensate for harmonic load currents, load unbalance and load reactive power with active power control. The performance of the system is analysed using hysteresis and resonant current controllers in natural abc frame. Extensive simulation studies in MATLAB/SIMULINK were done to compare the features of both the controllers.
