Abstract :
In this paper, we demonstrate for the first time the single mode operation of a dual-directional pumped erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) by using feedback injection technology. By adding a Fabry-Perot laser-diode (FPLD) instead of an optical band-pass filter, the optimized condition for single-mode operation of the EDFL can be obtained by driving the FPLD at a biased current of nearly threshold, which leads to a lasing mode of the EDFL with linewidth and SMSR of 0.1 nm and 25 dB, respectively
