  • Abstract
    In this paper, effect of Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator (TCSC) on Social Welfare function has been studied. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) centred procedure has been proposed to get optimal place and setting of TCSC to exploit Social Benefit. In addition, the impact of optimally sited TCSC on its size and system losses has been explored. The efficiency of anticipated methodology has been confirmed on IEEE 14 bus system and outcomes attained are equated with those attained from the sensitivity index based approach.
