  • Abstract
In optical fiber communication, wavelength division multiplexing based solution has given significant improvement in service quality. In WDM, device like wavelength converters play the key role but at the same time affect the cost factor heavily. This paper has proposed the solution for two important challenges of how many optimal wavelength converters required, which should be minimum as much as possible and where they have to place so that required success in blocking probability could be achieved efficiently. Both challenges have handled simultaneously with concept of evolutionary computation which includes elitism concept and a variation of genetic algorithm. Comparative performance analysis has given with various adaptive version of particle swarm optimization to confirm the relative benefits.
