Abstract
Engineers are now aware of the resultant insulation degradation that may be caused by stator core damage. Visual location is often simple. However a deep seated fault is not conspicuous and it is not generally appreciated that a coil burn out can be caused by shorted laminations which in turn further precipitates the iron fault.
