Abstract
During the 1990s in Italy, but also in the rest of Europe the processes of dispersed settlement have gained the attention of many researchers and scholars interested in territorial phenomena. In particular, compared to the past decades, which were characterised mainly by studies on the forms of society and economy in the dispersed territories, attention today also goes toward the understanding and interpretation of the physical forms of these territories, and to the manner of spatial organisation
