Abstract :
This paper reviews the electrical insulation requirements for superconducting magnets used in the magnetic fusion energy (MFE) program. Described are the cryogenic - radiation grade laminates G-10CR and G-11CR developed and made available to industry to fulfill these needs by Spaulding Fibre Company, Inc. Electrical, thermal and mechanical properties of the CR grade industrial laminates are compared at room, liquid nitrogen and liquid helium temperatures. Also discussed are simultaneous cryogenic - irradiation effects, compositions, manufacturing capabilities, applications and future developments.
