Abstract :
This paper introduces the neutral data format AutomationML®[1]. It is designed as a data exchange format for engineering tools used in the engineering process of production system. AutomationML was developed by the companies Daimler, ABB, Siemens, Rockwell, Kuka, Zühlke, netAllied as well as the universities of Magdeburg and Karlsruhe. It is intended to become an open standard. The main objective of AutomationML is to increases the interoperability between different engineering tools. To archive this AutomationML defines an architecture comprising the top level format that stores the main engineering information and integrates existing data exchange formats. Within this paper the basic concepts of AutomationML are explained with focus one the exchange of logic data.
