Abstract :
In order to more deeply understand the crucial technical issues that size of different cutting edge radius directly affects cutting performance, 3D finite element modeling and simulation of milling process for TI-6Al-4V titanium alloy are provided in this paper. Improved titanium alloy material constitutive model is used for this finite element simulation. Three dimensional model of traditional slot milling method is utilized to study the influence of the different cutting edge radius. In the finite element simulation of the whole milling process, the changes between cutting force and temperature of different cutting edge radius under the same cutting conditions are mentioned in this paper, besides the influence of different cutting edge radius is discussed. The results show that both cutting force and temperature have positive correlations with the cutting edge radius.
