Abstract
Transmission tower is a structure which is sensitive to the typhoon, especially the narrow transmission tower. Based on the design of a 110 kV narrow transmission tower in the typhoon-prone area, the paper summarized the laws of the transmission tower´s wind-induced destruction through the research, and analyzed reinforcement measures of the narrow transmission towers with the numerical simulation. The paper discussed four different schemes to strengthen the narrow transmission tower. The result indicates that the way to add the diaphragm-surfaces and diagonal braces to the narrow transmission tower not only improves the overall stiffness of transmission towers, but also improves the structural strength, to a certain extent. What´s more, the out-of-plane deformation between the main supports and the diagonal braces is decreased.
