Abstract :
Rapidly aging population has become a global phenomenon. At the same time, people in modern society get busier in their career, traditional way to take care of elders in family cannot suit modern society trend. Therefore, how to utilize modern information technology into elderly care becomes an important and meaningful research issue. In this paper, we present the design, implement and evaluation of a localization based passive elderly care system. We believe that elders´ everyday indoor position information is very helpful for elderly care. Considering privacy issue and some properties of elders, we choose radio based device-free passive (DFP) localization method to extract indoor position information. Our experiment results show that DFP method can achieve a rather high accuracy in indoor environment. Compared with other elderly care system, our system has some advantages such as easy to deploy, privacy protect, no need elders to participate etc.
