E-Health Services for Elderly Care Based on Google Cloud Messaging

E-health healthcare can enable patients to access health information and medical services ubiquitously. Most elderly people may have chronic disease, and about 80% even have two or more chronic conditions. Drug misuse leads to serious consequences even beings life-threatening. In this sense, how to design an e-health care system for the elderly is an important and interesting issue. Up to date, there are various APPs to friendly remind for taking medicine. However, for most APPs, patients should type in all medical information term by term personally. Via the information and communication technologies, we propose an e-health elderly care APP by using Google Cloud Messaging (GCM). Via using push notification from GCM, our e-health services provide the elderly with health information (e.g., prescription, medication instruction, taking-medicine time, reminding schedule back to the clinic, health nursing) through smartphone automatically after seeing a doctor.
