Abstract
This paper deals with the real and hypothetical health risks associated with asbestos containing products. The issues involved have been inaccurately reported by the news media. Most of the information that the general public has received is based on exposure levels that were prevalent 30 or 40 years ago. It is necessary for the industry to provide current data on the environmental impact of asbestos so that the public is informed rather than alarmed by misconceptions and inaccuracies.
